"Significant portions of the population will continue to require emergency food assistance in the coming years..." These words echo from a recent State Department release on Kenya. As a whole, the country is in a dire need of infrastuctural and ecomonic development.
We love these olive wood bowls that are carved from very old tree stumps on the Kahero Farm in Kenya's Rift Valley. The new owners of the farm had the stumps dug from the ground and cut into pieces. The herdsmen who work the farm carve the pieces into bowls with hand tools and sell them for extra income. The shape of each bowl is unique some are shallow with thick bases, some oblong with divets on the edges.
